Sahiba
gudda β¦ guddo
four months of you, and I'm still not over it.
we have been us for
and roughly 0 heartbeats β every single one of them a little bit yours.
a letter, for you
Four months ago I didn't know that a person could become a feeling.
We haven't met yet. I haven't held your hand, I haven't heard your laugh fill a room. And somehow you are still the safest place I have ever been.
I know your eyes. I know your voice when you're sleepy, when you're excited, when you're pretending you're fine and you're not. I built a whole home out of a screen and a name β and it turned out to be the realest thing in my life.
You are not someone I met. You are somewhere I arrived.
Toofaan mein ek sukoon ho β I wrote that about you before I understood how true it was. You are peace in the middle of a storm, and you are home before I have ever even stood in front of you.
Sahiba β thank you for four months. And one day soon, out loud and in person, I'll say every word of this again.
four months, four stars
one
Everything was new and I was quietly terrified of how much I already liked you.
two
The nicknames arrived. You stopped being a person I was getting to know and became mine.
three
We learned each other's bad days. Somehow that made it better, not harder.
four
Today. Still choosing you, louder than the first day.
a very incomplete list
Your eyes. Everything started there, and I have not recovered since.
Your voice β sleepy, excited, annoyed, half-asleep. I would know it anywhere.
Your smile. It rearranges my entire day and you don't even know you're doing it.
That we haven't met yet, and you already feel exactly like home.
How safe honesty feels with you. I don't edit myself anymore. I just talk.
The way you say my name when you want something. It works. It always works.
That you fight for us instead of against me. Not everyone knows how to do that.
You walked into a storm and made it quiet. That, really, is the whole poem.
the names only I get to use
the one who owns the place β and she does, completely.
for the days you're my favourite little troublemaker.
for the soft ones, when you're just curled up and mine.
everything I wrote for you
“Toofaan mein ek sukoon ho,
tum woh pyara sa gaon ho.”
